We are currently seeking a skilled community interpreting tutor to deliver the Level 3 certificate in community interpreting at our Parkshot site (Richmond).
About the Role
To develop our curriculum in 2023-24 we are looking for a variable hours tutor in community interpreting. You will deliver and assess the Ascentis Level 3 certificate in community interpreting.
Hours are variable and cover daytimes, evenings and weekends. Variable hours tutors work closely with programme managers in the designing, planning and delivering of courses which stretch and challenge our learners, as well as preparing a variety of learning materials, providing guidance to learners on progression options, attending termly meetings and completing course administration.
About You
You should have recent experience (not necessarily paid) of interpreting between at least one community language and English in the public sector. You should also hold a recognised teaching qualification.
You will be able to deliver engaging learning sessions for a range of learner groups and ability levels, and to ensure high levels of learner satisfaction with the College and its services. You will also advise line manager of ideas for developing and promoting sessions/courses to increase learner numbers and attract new learner groups.
Where applicable, you will be able to undertake scheduled teaching on qualification provision (on College site and in outreach centres), assessment, educational guidance, preparation of learning materials and assignments, arrangements for examinations, feedback and marking of students’ work, invigilating and marking of examinations, and administration of own courses.
You will have English and Maths minimum Level 2 qualifications, and a qualification or industry experience in your specialist area.
